lou: cover romney in new york today give a very good speech before the clinton initiative, but it was one that, frankly, was somewhat discordant because it was not relevant to the foreign policy issues being discussed by the leader of the free world and the commander in chief. what is your reaction? >> i think that mitt romney is in a position to win this presidential race. i think it is very important that he stop acting like a candidate and start acting like the president of the united states. what i would have had him do today is be meeting with these four leaders as the president refused to do and give that differentiation between the president of the united states sitting there on a talk show talking about being eye candy and having mitt romney meeting with leaders to try and solve these problems. that is what will be hit -- see him do. lou: and yet, and yet president obama, despite brushing aside the prime minister, despite just simply refusing to meet with any number of the leaders who one would have believed, as we pointed out, are from that statement by the candid

opponent is clueless because he is on the ououtside. romney is a dolit for attacking our middle east policy but not the president for not knowing the policy. we can't make it up. you better make sure you are ripping both or you prove you had no standard, actually you prove you have one standard electing the guy you like, not the guy you don't. that is when it gets offensive, when you take ofin t offense toy one gay
why have barack obama's policies contributed to that. i don't think it is sufficient for mitt romney to assert that he has handled it well. cheryl: romney came out with a housing plan, that includes a cover sheet. honestly, people are looking for more details from him. >> as an example, the recession ended in june of 2009. that is when unemployment was heading towards my .5%. it was time for the presidency to do something to address this skyrocketing unemployment. what did barack obama do? introduced the affordable care act. obamacare. and he spent 18 months legislating on a piece of legislation that whatever you may think about has nothing to do with employment in the united states. that is what he chose to do. it seems to me that that is the sort of connection that mitt romney ought to be making between the president and the weak economy. cheryl: i'm not so sure that the president cares at this point. so today he was on "the view." talking to the ladies of "the view." >> we can survive a lot. but the american people don't want to survive. we want everyone to thrive. >> i just have
, either mitt romney or paul ryan. or in a campaign ad specifically on this tax policy center analysis. now, the heritage foundation has a very detailed pushback in which it says that the tax policy center is off its rocker and that essentially that it is as rich said cooking the books because it is choosing which deductions and credits are on the table and off the table in its analysis and that mitt romney's plan when you deal with congress could eventually get to the point where you get to the number needed to keep it revenue neutral. and you can get there. but the tax policy center doesn't and so they get to the point where well you can't get to the number so he's going to have to raise taxes on the middle class. dagen: why aren't they fighting back with ads? >> i have no clue. i mean i really have no chlue. i think a lot of republicans are saying the same thing. we are one week away from the debate in denver and there will have to be some pushback because you know the president will be armed with that very tax policy center stat. dagen: some people are talking about the debates that thi
